
The 10th and 11th Annual Conferences of the African Society of International Law, 2021 and 2022 respectively

The 12th Annual Conference of the African Society of International Law (AfSIL) was held from 27–28 October 2023 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The central theme of the conference was: Africa and the governance of the global commons. This comprehensive conference was convened at African Union Headquarters and the Hyatt Regency Hotel and it featured leading experts, academics and researchers. It explored critical topics including; international law making concerning global common, Africa’s carbon market, international economic systems, trade and the global commons, and pursuit of international justice concerning the global commons. This conference resulted in not only rich but also timely exchanges and perspectives, reinforcing AfSIL’s objectives of amplifying African states’ and African’s voice in the international law and fostering exchange of ideas in international law.
