The 13th Annual Conference of the African Society of International Law (AfSIL), held from 1–2 November 2024 in Lagos, Nigeria, addressed the theme Africa and the energy transition. This two-day Conference brought together leading practitioners, academics and researchers who examined Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities within the energy transition. Through keynote addresses, roundtables, and panel discussions, the Conference addressed issues ranging from financing renewable energy projects and managing energy disputes to the role of technology, innovation, and critical minerals in the energy transition. These proceedings capture the insights and debates that marked this timely Conference, reaffirming AfSIL’s role as a platform for advancing African scholarship and shaping global conversations on international law.
