Kabarak University continues to shine as a beacon of innovation and excellence, as evidenced by a special visit from the Huduma Centre Kapenguria in West Pokot County. A delegation of six members from the government service centre visited Kabarak University's School of Business and Economics to appreciate and recognize the exemplary work of one of its students, Emmanuel Rotich, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Information Technology at the School of Business and Economics.
During his attachment at Huduma Centre, Emmanuel revolutionized their service delivery processes by digitizing manual procedures in ways the organization had never imagined.
The Vice-Chancellor of Kabarak University, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, expressed immense pride as he congratulated Emmanuel for his achievements. "Kabarak University is committed to producing problem solvers, and Emmanuel is just one of many students who exemplify this commitment," said the Vice-Chancellor. "We are the solution to the problems the world is currently experiencing, and this innovation stands as a sample of what we are producing."
Emmanuel Rotich, a student at the School of Business and Economics, was attached to the Civil Registration and National Registration of Persons counters at Huduma Centre Kapenguria. He identified inefficiencies in the issuance of birth certificates and, using the skills acquired at Kabarak University, developed a system to digitize the manual process using birth notification numbers. This innovation drastically improved service turnaround time and modernized records dating back to January 2023.
In her speech, the Huduma Centre's Manager highlighted the transformative impact of Emmanuel's work. “Emmanuel went above and beyond to offer a solution that aligns with our digitalization goals,” she said. "He demonstrated the core values of courtesy, innovation, and integrity that we uphold. We will fully incorporate his system into our operations, ensuring that the public benefits from this groundbreaking work."
The Huduma Centre delegation expressed their gratitude to Kabarak University for producing such high-calibre students and recognized Emmanuel’s work as a testament to the quality of education provided by the institution. The visit concluded with a ceremonial award presented to Emmanuel, with the team from Huduma Centre expressing hopes for future collaborations with the university.
As Kabarak University continues to nurture innovative minds like Emmanuel Rotich, the institution remains steadfast in its mission to solve real-world challenges and contribute to national development.
