In 2024, Kabarak University Law School is set to proudly host the 22nd edition of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, Africa Regional Round. Organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) in collaboration with the World Trade Organization (WTO), this event features a simulated hearing of the WTO Dispute Settlement System. Teams are tasked with preparing and analyzing a fictitious case, presenting arguments for both the Complainant and the Respondent before a panel of WTO and trade law experts. It serves as a platform to bolster law students' interest and expertise in international trade law, WTO dispute settlement procedures, and international trade law litigation.
The participating teams will dissect the case problem published by ELSA in September 2023 and submit their written arguments by January 12, 2024. Following this, they will present their oral arguments before WTO experts and other trade law specialists between April 18 and 21 at Kabarak Law School. The most outstanding teams will advance to the Global Rounds, scheduled for June 2024 at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
