Kabarak University Champions Drug-Free World at International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

On June 26th, Kabarak University proudly hosted a series of events in recognition of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADA). This year's theme, "The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention," resonated deeply with our mission to create a safe and healthy learning environment for all.

Our journey began on June 25th with an insightful online webinar specifically designed for universities and tertiary institutions. This session delved into the crucial components of effective drug abuse prevention strategies within academic settings.

The 26th kicked off with a vibrant online discussion featuring student teams from various South Rift universities, including St. Paul's, Egerton, African Nazarene, Kabaiaga, and Masai Mara. The Acting Provost, Rev. Justus Mutuku, officially opened the meeting, setting the tone for a day of productive discourse.

We were honored to welcome Mr. Robert Olweny, the Regional Manager for NACADA (South Rift), and his team. Together with Kabarak University's Dean of Students, Chaplaincy, student leaders (KUSO), peer counselors, Christian Union members, staff, and students, we formed a united front against drug abuse.

Following the online session, the energy continued at a special Chapel service. The NACADA team and Kabarak University representatives engaged in a captivating panel discussion. This platform provided an opportunity to explore the preventive measures our university has implemented and the investments we've made to combat drug use and illicit trafficking on campus.

Kabarak University's commitment to a drug-free environment remains unwavering. We strive to empower our students and staff to make healthy choices through collaborative efforts, educational initiatives, and open dialogue. We believe that by investing in prevention, we can create a brighter future, free from the devastating effects of drug abuse.
