This program was designed to enhance the technical skills of university lecturers in Kenya, and it kicked off on March 6, 2023. Participants from both private and public universities attended the Coding Challenge that took place at the Microsoft ADC Dunhill Towers in Nairobi on April 4, 2023.
The School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) at Kabarak University emerged as the overall winner of the challenge. Dr. Andrew Kebut and Daisy Ondwari from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology formed the winning team, demonstrating exceptional technical skills, creativity, and innovation. The runners-up, Mercy Gachokas team, also from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, performed admirably, showcasing their technical prowess and potential.
This impressive performance underscores the university's commitment to providing quality education that aligns with industry standards. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, congratulated the winning team and runners-up for their exceptional creativity and innovation on behalf of the university community.
In other exciting news, the Commission for University Education has granted full accreditation to Kabarak University Nakuru City Campus. This accreditation certifies that the University has put in place all the requisite resources, quality standards, and services at the Nakuru City Campus. This milestone was celebrated by the University Community and all its stakeholders, who expressed gratitude to God for the accomplishment.
Kabarak University's innovative spirit knows no bounds. The university's Electronic Voting Information System (EVIS) was recently awarded the Public Service Award at the Connected 2023 Summit, held at the Diamonds Leisure Beach Golf Resort in Diani Mombasa from April 2-5, 2023.
The EVIS system was developed by Kabarak University in 2018 and has since been successfully utilized to conduct smooth, fair, and credible Kabarak University Students Association elections since 2019. The system's success was further demonstrated when it was deployed to conduct the Egerton University Students Association elections on April 5, 2023.
The University's Vice-Chancellor, in recognition of the significant innovation on behalf of the University, congratulated the EVIS team led by Dr. Moses Thiga, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology.
