Kabarak University Holds the Central Rift Innovation Week on the Theme: Commercialization of Research and Innovation

Kabarak University this Tuesday has opened its gate to innovators and researchers from Nakuru, Kericho, Bomet, Narok, Baringo, Nyandarua, Samburu and Laikipia counties to the Central Rift Innovation Week running until Friday the 4th of November. Kabarak University will host this event in partnership with, Kenya National Innovation Agency, ICT Authority, Standard Group Media, Innovation Hubs, Nation Media Group, Konza Technopolis, Kenya Industrial Property Institute, NACOSTI, Kenya Copyright Board, Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Scaling up SME Ecosystem in Africa, Promoting Excellence in Training and Technology, Skyline Sacco Society Limited, Nakuru County, Laikipia County, Nyandarua county, County Government of Nandi, Eldohub, Nakuru Box, Dandelion Africa and Huduma white box.

The Central Rift Innovation Week seeks to showcase the innovativeness of Kenyans and champion relevant policy engagements on innovations within institutions while promoting practical skills necessary to create innovations that impact people. The four-day event will feature workshops, plenaries and exhibitions to achieve its objectives.

The vice chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat officially opened The Central Innovation week 2022 and the white box entrepreneurship training for innovators and entrepreneurs. In his speech, he mentioned the measures Kabarak University has put in place to grow the Research, Innovation and Outreach function through the development of policies, the establishment of requisite committees and offices, increasing internal funds for research, innovation and outreach, establishing hubs, laboratories, and centers for research and innovation, publishing research outputs in peer-reviewed journals and books, engaging the community and industry through linkages and organizing Research conferences.

The ICT Authority management representative Mr. Kevin Atibu Seboru emphasized on the commercialization of innovations so as to create employment opportunities. He mentioned that the white box program was established to support innovators by providing them with capacity building, connecting innovators with investors and holding mentorship sessions with the innovators.

Kabarak university appreciates the various county governments, financial institutions, innovation hubs, government agencies, Non-governmental organizations, technology companies and technical and vocational institutions for enabling the success of this event and invites everyone to come and learn more on the commercialization of research and innovation.
