Department of Commercial Law
Jambo,
Welcome to the Department of Commercial Law at Kabarak University, School of Law. Ours is a unique and engaged department, and I am pleased to introduce you to it. The Commercial Law Department is well known for its extraordinary team. For all the well-deserved accomplishments and accolades of each member, it is their deep commitment to intellectual legal inquiry that sets them apart. I am always inspired by each member as we work together as a team to ensure that our law students gain the skills needed to be competent and successful professionals.
My team includes many famous names as well as many names that will soon be famous. It is supported by outstanding lawyers, a member of the National Environmental Tribunal, and an alumni. Each is known nationally and internationally as an outstanding scholar in their field.
As devoted as my team members are to the legal research field, they are equally committed to their teaching. I can proudly attest that my team considers teaching a privilege, and we especially prize the opportunity to teach first-year students. You will find the department members regularly teaching in the curriculum, just as you will regularly find each member in their designated office, on weekly coffee dates, and stopping to chat after classes.
Nurturing legal professionals with a good understanding of Commercial Law is the core of the Department’s mission, and student access to my stellar team is essential to that education.
When you come to study at Kabarak University, School of Law, you will join a diverse student body that is deeply committed to studying the law, developing friendships and professional relationships that are aimed at changing the country and world at large. My students impress me by their intellect and commitment by participating in moots, debates, and research conferences. They ensure that important topics are discussed while having fun.
The Commercial Law Department is serious about ideas. We continuously challenge and test new ideas in the lecture rooms and over coffee conversations. Such a diversity of ideas strengthens my team, and I welcome students and new team members with diverse experiences to be a part of it.
I invite and hope that you will take advantage of the information offered on our website pages, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages to learn about the opportunities the school at large offers to our undergraduate students. If you would like to learn more about the program, please contact me at Jshah@kabarak.ac.ke.
Please come and visit my team in person, and let us show you why we are happy to be here. Come and see our state-of-the-art facilities in the vibrant Kabarak. Experience for yourself the best legal education in Kenya. My team looks forward to meeting you in person.
To prospective and continuing students, always practice and preach the words by Henry David Thoreau “I learned this, at least, from my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
Jaini Shah, Head of Department, Commercial Law Department, School of Law
