Department of Computer Science & Information Technology
On behalf of members in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, I wish to warmly welcome you.
As a department, we are well aware of the crucial role that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play as an enabler of socio-economic development and the fact that ICT gels into any economic model of any country. We are also cognizant of the fact that ICT provides a wide range of practical solutions such as Health Information Systems (HIS), Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled solutions and applications that can be employed in smart farming, healthcare, digitization of processes and many more. As a result, our department is a front runner in training learners who will position themselves to take up roles that will lead to these solutions.
Our programs are tailor-made to churn out graduates who will become cyber security experts, data analysts and scientists, IS managers, IT consultants, applications/software developers etc. We are also working towards positioning our graduates as key players and participants within the fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies(4IRs) such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, Data Analytics using open-source technologies such as “python” and many more.
Our department has a total of 22 full-time faculty who are professionals, some with international experience having studied and worked in some of the best universities within and outside Kenya.
